Capital Punishment
It was bound to happen. The Dodgers finally lost a series, dropping the final game of a three-game set in Washington 10-4 Sunday afternoon. Like Friday, the pitching was the problem, as Dodgers starter Jae Seo (2-3) pitched like a man desperately wanting a shower, giving up six runs on seven hits and three walks in only 2 2/3 innings. No cheapies, either. The Nats beat the hell out of him. And it was one of Washington's rookies, Ryan Zimmerman, who dealt the big blow — a three-run shot in the third that put the Dodgers in a 4-0 hole. It would get worse for L.A., who were down 8-0 before an Olmedo Saenz monster three-run blast put them on the board. Down 9-4 in the eighth, L.A. tried to make some noise, but Marlon Byrd made a great diving catch on a Russell Martin liner to save at least two runs and end the inning. That, as they say, was that.
The pen wasn't exactly groovy either. Odalis Perez gave up four hits and two walks in only 2 1/3 innings (though in fairness, it is hard to pitch when covered in rust). Tim Hamulack and Jonathan Broxton were also touched up for runs. But of more concern is the lineup. Jeff Kent missed the game with his bad left wrist, and J.D. Drew was also held out with a bum shoulder. Kenny Lofton needed a break to rest his hammies — though he did enter the game in the eighth. That meant the major league debut of Matt Kemp, who had been knocking the cover off the ball at AA Jacksonville. Kemp struck out three times before finally breaking through with a single, but displayed an impressive arm in center.
More on the game to come.

Let's get the ___ out of D.C. & start fresh in Atlanta.

Looks like the Dodgers already left town before the game started.
Kemp might have been nervous but he didn't look like he was ready for major league pitching.
Glad to see Carter sent down. I don't think Humulack is far behind. I do hope he does works out his problems. But it's going to take more than "one good inning" as he says.
I really like Drew but it seems we like paid way too high a price for a player who just CANNOT stay healthy. I hope this is just a minor thing. It's pretty obvious the Dodgers need Kent and Drew in the lineup to keep this thing going.

BK,
Nice headline. It’s the funniest thing I saw today even though I can’t conjure up a smile. We got out butts whooped!!!

I was so ticked off when I saw what was really wrong with Drew today. “I guess I slept on it wrong” is how he described the pain in his shoulder when he swings. I swear, I wish I could post the things I want to post about this turd, but it seems that whenever he gets sand in his c**t he tucks his tail between his legs. Drew!!! You’re the biggest p**sy I have ever had the displeasure of laying my eyes on. I wish I could drop you right in the middle of Iraq so I can show you what pain really is.
I sat next to two Cards fans today. (What up AK/BK? They had no idea who you two were. Haha!!) Without giving ANY love to AK/BK, Cards fans have always impressed me with their baseball knowledge and IQ. It seems that anytime I have a great unbiased baseball conversation it’s always with a Cards fan. Anyways, we spent the 3rd inning talking about Drew. It was a great “better you than me” conversation. It helped me get through Seo reverting back to his Pittsburgh performance when he turned PNC Park into the Kennedy Space Center launching pad.
It was VERY hot today!! Maybe that facilitated Drew’s big fat c**t swelling up today. Here’s hoping that he “takes his game to another level” so that he can opt out of that ridiculous contract he uses to buy pads during “that time of the month”.

Ouch!!
That was not fun in the least bit!
Seo looked like he had good stuff but he just kept getting behind hitters.
Anyway, it's good to be getting out of D.C.
Go Blue!!

I was at the game today and you are right on regarding Kemp's arm. I thought Marlon Anderson would score easily on the sac fly off of Brian Schneider's bat, but Kemp's laser made the play close. He struggled mightily at the plate during his first three at bats, but hopefully he'll catch his stride like the other young Dodgers have. Saenz' blast was fun to watch, but the struggles of Seo and Perez were not. The Nationals hit blast after blast against Dodgers' pitchers, and LA was fortunate to get out of town with one win.

Bonds popularity .099
The Babe's .999
Sorry Mike, I just can't get into that guy. If it wasn't for "the cream" I really would have the highest regard for his abilities.
We do agree about the Lakers needing to play D though.
Happy Memorial Day all. God bless the vets!

Andy B,
Thank you for your comments. Me and my wife appreciate them very much!

Andy B,
Popularity? Not a big thing in my book. People hated Barry before the steriods issues became an issue.
