They Say That Cat AK Can Sniff Out a Trade On The Horizon like a Bad Mother...
Shut yo' mouth!
As I suspected earlier, the Dodgers have indeed made a move. It was just announced about two minutes ago that The Dodgers have traded Danys Baez, Willy Aybar and cash considerations (I had a feeling that guy was on the move) to the Braves for...
Wilson Betemit!
I'm about to listen to Ned Colletti discuss the trade, but I wanted to let y'all in the loop.
More to come later.
AK

Yeah, I heard that over the PA while the game was on!!!
Wow, I didn't see Aybar's name there. Great call, AK.

Izzy is as good as gone after this trade, people.
Posted by: LoLo | July 28, 2006 at 07:52 PM
Wow, not what I expected!
Betemit's stats:
Season 88 199 30 56 16 0 9 29 2 .281 .344 .497
Career 232 495 69 139 28 4 13 52 4 .281 .340 .432
LAST I Heard he was bound for the Yankees for Scott Proctor. Still no power at the corners though.

The G-Nats just got Mike Stanton from the Nats.

YOUNG 3RD BASEMAN WITH POWER. NOT SURE WHAT IT MEANS
FOR IZTURIS BUT 3RD BASE IS A POWER POSTION AND GOD
KNOWS WE NEED POWER ( 9HRS IN 199AB).MAYBE IZTURIS
OR FURCAL IS NEXT? AYBAR WAS NOT A GOOD FIELDER
AND NEVER WOULD HAVE BEEN A STARTER FOR DODGERS.
WE ALL KNOW WHAT BAEZ DID FOR US.

First reaction: YES! Happy to see Baez go. Talk about overrated.
I am sorry to see Aybar leave but you have to give up something to get something and Baez sure wasn't the carrot in this deal.
If the new guy can even work a count we've upgraded. Now I'm dreaming of Drew on deck for the next roster move.

Betemit's got some pop. He just hasn't had the chance to play everyday consistantly. Chipper was standing in his way.

WOOOHOOO!! Andre is THE MAN.
He is the only one who is raking right now!!
Posted by: LoLo | July 28, 2006 at 08:13 PM
I like the trade. I'm happy to get rid of Baez, and Betemit is a definite upgrade over Aybar.
And that Stanton trade seems like a desperation move by the Giants. I mean, what has he got left in the tank?
(Andre Ethier just hit a blast! Woo-hoo!)

Line of the year from Vinny: "Martin goes to third on a hit-and-run single and the Dodgers are on the attack! When was the last time I said THAT? 'The Dodgers are on the attack!'"
Posted by: wmm | July 28, 2006 at 08:18 PM
Yeah Baby!!! 3-1!!!! We're raking tonight!!
Posted by: LoLo | July 28, 2006 at 08:18 PM
My quote of the night from Vin:
"And the Dodgers are on the attack! [pause] Boy, when was the last time I said that?"

OK, Princess, 4-1 Dodgers and runners at 2nd and 3rd. Show me something!!!
Posted by: LoLo | July 28, 2006 at 08:27 PM
Lolo, you're probably right in the long run, but Izturis may find a home at 2B while Kent is on the DL. Martinez is a fine replacement, but I think his versatility is much better utilized off the bench.

Nice, Princess. Way to show some power by grounding out to the pitcher. What a hunk of s***!!!
Posted by: LoLo | July 28, 2006 at 08:29 PM
Now that was a perfect throw by Russ to throw Soriano out.

Very good trade! Ned is going crazy with all these trades! Haha. Wilson Betemit can be a monster if he plays everyday. When Marcus Giles went down, Wilson stepped up as the leadoff hitter and he flourished at that spot. He can play both middle infield and also field 3rd base. So very good acquisition!

Wait a minute guys.. Betemit has as many home runs as our highest paid player...wait...that is not a good thing...that person is Drew and he has only 9 homers. Betemit hits for a higher average and won't be an automatic out with runners in scoring position.

Look at little Izzy show some POP!!!!! HAHAHA!!!!
Posted by: LoLo | July 28, 2006 at 08:50 PM
Without Perez and Baez, how are we going to blow this five-run lead?
Posted by: wmm | July 28, 2006 at 09:05 PM
PRINCESS JUST HIT A GRAND SLAM!!
YOU GO GIRL!!!
Posted by: LoLo | July 28, 2006 at 09:07 PM
Think Izzy's homerun came because he knows lots of us are talking about trading him and he knows Betemit is coming?
Posted by: Dodgerdog | July 28, 2006 at 09:08 PM
Drew at bat with bases loaded...i predict a strike out before anything happens or a double play...let's see what happens ... holy sh**...omg.........a home run from who??? DREW.....this is making national headlines....the Dodgers seem to be on their way to victory...which is the bad thing because during this losing streak...they have been the opening line for jay leno every night.
