Fernando-Mania All Over Again?

Never say never, but the Dodgers would probably just settle for a quality bat off the bench in new roster hopeful Fernando Tatis.  And no matter if the guy makes us forget Valenzuela ever had a first name or ends up playing in Sin City, dude's still a record holder.

Also, think of the fun to be had if Olmedo Saenz pinch hits for this hurler.

well, if he can pull if THREE slams in one inning he might be a decent utility guy... :) I think we all remember that AMAZING record of the two slams. I suspect that is one of the unbreakable records in the game. Heck, with the clamp down on the use of McBarroids I doubt I doubt it will even be tied.

I like this flyer Colletti is taking on the guy. I always like the way he played in StL.

Soooo, what you the KBros take on him as you have more experience with him...I mean aint you guys 'sposed to be journalists and therefore have opinions? hehehehe....

I remember when the Cards got Tatis. I thought it was a good deal, and it was for a while. Then he fell apart. No harm in taking a flier on the guy, but I have a sneakin' suspicion that if the Blue need to rely on Fernando this season, things have gone horribly wrong.

Tatis was always knocked in St. Louis for fitness of body and mind. Always out of shape, constantly pulling things. Not such a great approach to the game. But he could rake. So maybe a few years playing in seriously random places (and a return to the bigs last year) helped him find some motivation.

Funny thing is I was there for that record (not one of my finer Dodger memories). The second time he came up with the sacks juiced the entire place was thinking the same thing. And then, bang!

I've never wanted to leave a game as early as I did that day. Will never forget that moment; just had that sickening feeling in my gut. Though it does remind me how good it is to be rid of Chan Ho!

With no intentions of preempting the fabulous journalism of the Brothers K, there was an excellent interview of Ned Colletti on espn710 this week. In case you missed it, click on the link below, scroll down to the "ESPN local" box, and listen to the 1/24 Mason & Ireland show:
