AK, you are cold blooded, LOL!
Do you ever interview him? I wonder if he ever reads the blog...
And would that be appropriate for a Dodger to get his fud over there in the first place? (joke)
Maybe Penny will make us all look foolish and come to spring training 30 lbs lighter.
I'm fairly confident, if need be, I can outrun an irate Penny. haha
No, seriously, all kidding aside, I just think his weight has been a legit issue. Obviously, he's not grossly out of shape or anything, but I don't think it's coincidence that Penny has a history of back issues/struggling as the season wears on, and that he could stand to lose a few pounds. Not only that, but from my vantage point, he seems to get bigger as the season goes on. I'm not a trainer so I can't say for sure, but my gut (no pun intended) tells me one has a lot to do with the other.
I wish these minor rumblings about Beltre coming to LA would just go away. The bottom line is, with his salary, he is just way overpaid for what he produces.
Again, if we are going to make a trade for a real impact third baseman, let's trade for Scott Rolen (assuming the Cards are interested). Otherwise, stick with Betemit for now and hope he reaches his potential. If not, we still got LaRoche in the queue.
Well, at least with the opening of an all-you-can eat buffet in right field, all the autograph hounds will know where to find Bad Penny and Olmedo "Extra Tomatoes" Saenz on their off days. . .
Some people who think Beltre's one big year was a result of something fishy forget he did not begin hitting until he tweaked his left ankle/foot. Before he did his biggest issue hitting was lunging at the ball and not staying back. That entire season he could not put much weight/strain on his left ankle when he would swing. This caused him to stay back and wait for the ball to come to him. Hence hit hit a ton because he just reacted and could not force it. If you watch him in Seattle he was back to lunging the minute he got there. Not sure if he could be put back in that frame of mind but it would sure be interesting. He would also be a huge upgrade defensively over what the Dodgers have currently.
Then again he is expensive...of course those $40 seats in RF will cover that I am sure...my gawd I simply cannot imagine the sort of beligerent PITA rude POS "fans" this sort of deal will attract...oh sure I can...they are called "Raider Fan" and only come out of Mom's basement for all you can eat gourmond meals. These are the sorts who will be sure to extract "their money's worth" from the game and to heck everyone around them.
Sorry the Dodgers can keep this "fan experience" all for themselves. I have likely attended my last Dodger game in my lifetime.
i love buffets; unfortunately, my eyes are bigger than my stomach. i can finish a In-N-Out cheeseburger, but have to split the fries. american portions are too big. Sizzler has a 6 oz. streak for lunch, which is just perfect.
Somebody help me here... Why is $40 for all you can eat and drink in the RF pavillion considered a "deal"? Let's see:
2 dogs @ $6 each = $12
2 sodas @ $4 each = $8
Cool-a-coo @ 3 = $3 (yes, I know they don't sell those any more, but I miss them)
Giant bag of peanuts @ $5 = $5
That's $28 and it is more than enough to keep me happy (and then some) for 9 innings plus visitor batting practice. Now I know the RFP is not worth $12 a seat, and even if it was, that is breaking even at best.
This is a good deal only if you already weigh 300+ pounds or are the kind of person who thinks a 3-egg Denver omelet is just a breakfast side dish at IHOP.
Len,
Ice cream and candy are not part of the deal. Just the Dodger Dogs, soda, water, and peanuts. You can PURCHASE ice cream, candy, beer, and other stuff they usually sell in the Pavilions for their usual price. I've read in one report that nachos are included but I think the information the Dodgers sent to their ticket holders didn't include them. So basically unless you can eat 5 plus Dodger Dogs, you're losing money likely. I can down 5 dogs but then I might not want another Dodger Dog for awhile. I just hope that these are the GRILLED Dodger Dogs and not the STEAMED ONES.... those steamed ones are terrible.
good points about the costs of food...of course odds are they are gonna be increasing the costs at the concession stands now.
I know they limit the number of each item a person can get each visit to the consession. Even so I bet most folks would get on regular and one gourmond ticket. Another way to keep the odds in favor of the Dodgers is to restrict this to one consession creating longer lines. Forcing the ticket holder to decide between a $4 hotdog and actually seeing the game. I bet you cannot get peanuts from the peanut vendor either and have to go the the concession for those too...
Andrew (right) and Brian Kamenetzky are hosts of the LA Times Lakers Blog, and contributing writers to ESPN The Magazine and ESPN.com. Additionally, they co-authored Fishing on the Edge, the autobiography of Mike Iaconelli, the bad boy of bass fishing and 2003 Bassmaster Classic champion. They grew up in St. Louis as Cardinals fans, but it doesn't impair their ability to Think Blue. After all, the Cards and Dodgers aren't even in the same division.
Oh, gosh. Barroid has 2 new/continuing problems for the Giants to ponder.
Again, let's hear it for Ned Colletti, who values character.
By the way, still no Princess signing.

I use the term "off day" for Bad Penny literally, not figuratively (which should be interpreted as everyday). . .

I thought they never sold beer in the pavilion seats anyway.
