Assuming he keeps hitting like this...

... Who cares if Luis Gonzalez turns a routine pop fly into an exercise of heavy anxiety and praying to the higher powers above?  If he continually provides offense like tonight's two jacks that helped power a 10-4 win over the Giants, dude can play with an oven mitt on his fielding hand.   His 4th inning solo jack put the team up 2-1, and then a three-run shot in the 7th iced things for the Blue.  But Gonzo was hardly alone in today's series sweeping run-fest.  Surprise call-up Matt Kemp racked two ribbies off his three hits, allowing him to join Jeff Kent and Wilson Valdez in the "April 8th triple knock Dodgers Club" (By the time everyone learns the secret handshake, it's April 9th and the club's disbanded.  But whooo!!!  Fun times are had at those lodge meetings!).  Randy Wolf recorded his first win as a member of the club he grew up rooting for, surrendering just 3 hits and a run over six innings.  The followup work by Chad Billingsley was a bit more of an adventure.  One figures he'll look to flush the 3 runs allowed over 2 innings right down the drain.  But by then, the box score so heavily favored the Blue that it was basically "no harm, no foul."

Unless, of course, you're talking about the state of Bill's ERA.  That baby done swole up.

Forget Gonzo's adventures in left... what's up with Pierre in center? Oh well... I don't care what the stats say... all I see is some sweeping by the bay! Seriously... Ray Durham batting CLEANUP? Huh?

my apologies to gonzo for saying here earlier that he was AARP material. gonzo's tryin' and today he delivered big.
hope you all enjoy the home opener tomorrow -

well, when furcal gets back, i like the idea of valdez at third. longterm, i hope grady still entertains garciaparra at third and loney at first. not sure about pierre at this point, but kemp's clearly been compensating for his lack of production in the outfield.

the pitching staff looks darn deep, particularly if kuo gets into a groove in the minors.

Darn

I was buried in a sub-basement all afternoon so I missed the game. A sweep of SF is always great, but a blowout against their new $126 million 'Ace' is sweet.

I wrote yesterday that only a 30+ HR pace would justify Gonzo's presence on the starting lineup every day... 2 jacks a day would certainly fit that bill. If he keeps that up, no one will question his playing time.

A 4-2 roadie is always nice, but those Giants looked incredibly old and tired this weekend. I wonder how long the Dodgers can keep up this mini win streak coming home. Considering how they owned the Rockies all last season, I'm pretty sure they're good for a couple of more wins before a loss.

looks like the giants gets the senior discount from denny's!! What a bad team.Where is that giants fan that comes on here at?!!!The blue need to get there act together in the outfield, that kinda stuff wont fly against the pads, cards, or mets. The rotation looks soild the guys look like they have a good groove out there.

Excellent runfest today...About time they broke through....I was getting a little tired of the nail-biters.
Gonzo came through with flying colors...Alverez had a good series and is showing he belongs...I wonder what they are going to do when Raffy comes off the DL soon!!!
I feel much better now that they swept a series especially against the Hated Giants... go Blue

Jim

Gonzo will get it done.

Giannoyance is pretty quite right now. LOL

remember typically the most obnoxious and vocal 'frisco "fans" are actually "..I hate the Dodgers..." fans and pretty much never follow the giants at all.

Nice to see Gonzo respond the the notion fans were getting the he seems washed up. Maybe that was what was missing in AZ? Gonzo did mention that he was never asked questions as a Diamondback as he was being aked now with the Dodgers.

Whatever it takes...and of course having some younger guys making it happen might not hurt too...
