No soup for you!

Billingsley_toss No comebacks, either, as the Dodgers fell short in a bid for last minute razzle dazzle in a 4-2 loss to the Chicago Cubs.  The eighth inning saw a substitute-heavy lineup force Cubs starter Carlos Zambrano into a bases loaded spot of trouble.  A spot the Dodgers were hoping pinch-hitter Jeff Kent could convert into a granny, especially with lefty Will Ohman take over for Zambrano.  Deja vu all over again?  No dice.  Kent went down looking and the Dodgers' chances followed in a similar fashion.  Rafael Furcal watched it all from the bench, having been taken out of the lineup at the last minute due to a stiff knee.  He showed up at the Ravine ready to play, but eventually decided it wasn't worth chancing any further irritation.   Furcal's absence not only put a wrench in any potential box score results, but Grady Little's master plan to rule the world (which seems at best like a roundabout manner of achieving global domination, since it mostly involves flip-flopping his 1-2 spots in the lineup based on lefty vs. righty pitching.  But we'll see how it goes).

The Dodgers' attempt at rubber match domination will start with Randy Wolf v. Rich Hill.  So-Cal native Randy Wolf has been treated well of late when taking the local mound.  Hill, however, has never faced the Dodgers, so I imagine fans won't be looking to send out any welcome wagons to greet him.

Chad Billingsley would love to be a starter again.  Yesterday's stint on the hill didn't exactly hurt his chances.

Cue the Shrek soundtrack.

Just like if they were appearing on a episode of Law & Order, the Dodgers have the right to an attorney.

Dodger 1955,

I think Russ Ortiz will be available soon.

AK/BK,

I see that your Cards and GM Walt Jocketty demoted Anthony Reyes to AAA due to his poor pitching and lack of success, rather than continuing with his struggles with the big club. Hmmmm, anyone perhaps the Dodgers could dump for similar reasons?

It's fun to critique Coletti, Little etc...but to be fair, who would have thought that Nomar would lose all power. That's what makes Pierre signing look so bad.

But our pitching is terrific and hopefully now that Tomko is finished as a starter, maybe our pitching will be even better.

But I do believe that Ethier should move up in the lineup. The fact that he is hitting what he is, batting 8th just shows that the kid has got it.

Dodgerdog-

Who'd you have in mind?

BK
