Marlon Anderson is released

The Dodgers just announced that Marlon Anderson has been designated for assignment, which coincides with the activation of Chin-Hui Tsao.  The latter is available for relief arm duty this evening (and not a minute too soon).

BK's at the park and he'll have more specific details, but we wanted to give y'all the heads up ASAP.  We both figure some team will pick up the Uber-Late '06 Season Addition, so this is hopefully an "all's well that ends well" thing.  Anderson is a seriously nice dude and BK and I have both enjoyed talking with him during his brief Dodger tenure.  Best of luck in the future.

I have to say if it was going to come down to sending down either Kemp or Abreu, I'd have rather released Marlon. So I agree with this decision.

Now if we can only get Nomar to get hot.

Wow, this is a pretty un-Colletti like move, considering Abreu has options. I guess it makes sense, though, considering Betemit's PH numbers as a switch hitter, and especially from the left side. Glad to see that Tsao is back, hopefully this time for good.

Now, Furcal to the DL to coincide with the Allstar break, some lovin' for Nomar by the wife and kids, and a foolish GM to unload Tomko, and things will be looking pretty good.

Best of luck to Anderson, hopefully he doesn't end up with the Padres.

From the very first game in Milwaukee I've been wondering if it would be less painful to gouge out my eyes or have to watch Juan D'Vaughn Pierreless play center field and bat for the Dodgers for the next five-years, oh wait, how joyous is this, I just realized it's actually down to 4 1/2 years.

The answer has become blatantly obvious.

Please Mr. Colletti, at least try to trade him, for the sake of my sanity.

The only problem is that the Dodgers would probably have to pay half of his salary over the remainder of his contract to find anybody willing to take on this lump of masticated Louisiana crawfish. (Even though he was born in Mobile, AL....Louisiana is close enough for this reference, also, I think it sounds better than masticated Alabama pork rind.)

The only hope for a straight up trade without any cash considerations would be if the Mets hire Isiah Thomas as their GM, whose full name is Isiah Lord Thomas III. FWIW

Makoto-

Given Furcal's precarious health and the need to sit Kent periodically, plus the need for a 3B to rest Nomar, Abreu has a lot of value right now. Plus he hits from both sides. What'll be really interesting is to see what happens when Martinez is ready to come off the DL. Grady described him as essentially like starting the season over, as if it was spring training, in terms of how long it'll take him to work himself back into shape. I.E., we want to put this decision off as long as humanly possible.

I really hate to see Marlon go. He really helped the Dodgers last year. He also seemed like a nice person. I just hope he doesn't surface in the West.

Good thing the Dodgers have a "wealth of talent" They keep trading for players and then releasing them with nothing in return.
Life in the fat lane...
Marlon was huge for us last year. To bad we couldn't keep him. But the blue plate special is youth (in other words, youth is served, lol)
Let's make the Padres pray, err.. prey.

Nice lineup tonight with two .400 guys, Loney and Kemp, hitting 7th and 8th.

Aryan

Ok they need to KEEP Kemp in the lineup......KEEP Loney in the lineup.....KEEP Eithier in the lineup....Move Kent down the order......And not give up on Hung Chi - Kuo (I still think he can do it. I mean lets not forget he did well towards the end of last season & he did good in that playoff game against the Mets)
