DODGERS TO PLACE ADDITIONAL TICKETS

ON SALE FOR COLISEUM GAME

Standing Room Only tickets will go on sale this Saturday

LOS ANGELES – Dodger Owner Frank McCourt announced today that standing room tickets for the sold-out Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum exhibition game on March 29 against the Red Sox will be placed on sale this Saturday, March 1. As part of the event where single game tickets for the Los Angeles Dodgers’ 50th Anniversary season will go on sale, approximately 25,000 standing room tickets for the Coliseum game will also be sold to fans.

In addition, McCourt announced that fans are welcome as early as noon for a family baseball festival outside the park, free with a game ticket.  Gates to the Coliseum will open at 4:10 p.m., in time to see both teams take batting practice in its entirety.

“We are thrilled to have additional tickets – some right on the field – for those who want to experience this event,” McCourt said. "We hope that families from all over Los Angeles will join us at for a day-long tribute to Dodgers’ history that raises funds for ThinkCure.”

Ticket prices will be $10, $20, and $25.  There will be a 16-ticket purchase limit per fan for the Coliseum game.

On Saturday, March 1 at 10 a.m. Dodger Stadium’s Sunset Gate will open at 8 a.m. and fans who arrive by 8:30 a.m. receive a numbered wristband for a ticket lottery. Those with wristbands will get the first opportunity to purchase tickets to the exhibition game at the Coliseum on March 29, single-game tickets for Opening Day, and all 81 regular season games, as well as tickets for both exhibition contests against the Red Sox at Dodger Stadium on March 28 and 30.

A wristband number will be drawn at random, and that number will be first in line. This process allows for all fans to have an equal opportunity to win the first chance to purchase tickets.

As part of the celebration of their 50th anniversary in Los Angeles, the Dodgers will return to the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum for an exhibition game against the Red Sox on March 29. All ticket proceeds for the game will benefit ThinkCure, the official charity of the Los Angeles Dodgers. ThinkCure is dedicated to raising funds for critical cancer research and ultimately finding a cure for cancer. The exhibition game marks the return of the Dodgers to their original Los Angeles home where they played for four seasons, from 1958-1961.

Coliseum game tickets will be available on March 1 at Dodger Stadium, dodgers.com, Ticketmaster outlets or by calling 866-DODGERS.

I've been hearing rumors that the Dodgers may do a Coliseum game again in March 2009, this time against the White Sox to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Dodgers' first Los Angeles World Series (against the Chisox). Anyone know more?

Hey Vincent. I haven't heard that, but given the interest in this game (and the number of tix they could sell) it wouldn't shock me. The only reason I'd say not likely is that the dimensions there are SO goofy, that to play actual games there could kind of screw with things. You'd hate to take away three games with a real home field to play in a more "novelty" setting, then have those games come back to haunt later.

Too much to pay for standing room seats at an exhibition game. For $25, do I get to stand behind the Dodger dugout all game?? It's for a good cause though so we've got to tip our hats to another good McCourt business idea.

Here's a link to a 80's Dodgers music video a friend has sent me. It's HILARIOUS. Has anyone seen this before? Watching Orel, Scioscia, Pedro Guerrero, and the rest dance is just classic:

Has there been any discussion if they will allow tailgateing for this event?

Thanks blueballs. And here I thought I was one of the first ones on to the rediscovery of this video. For what it's worth, I was out of the country the past week. ;)
You still got to love Pedro Guerrero "en espanol".

No worries, kwony! Just looking out for you, amigo. I think my favorite part of the video are Orel's mad MC skilzz with the mic! I thought Milli Vanilli were the masters of lip-synching, but those 2 clowns ain't got nothing on the Bulldog!!!!
