Jerry Lewis: Bad ham of an actor

Jeff Kent: Bad ham(my) of a baseball player.  And since athletes need them some healthy hamstrings, Kent is expected to miss about a week of action to shore up the ailment gone bad during yesterday's warm up.    Kent's absence led to Delwyn Young taking over the second bag during Grapefruit action against the Mets.  Young's absence didn't directly lead to the 3-2 loss, of course, but that doesn't mean the Blue isn't nonetheless hoping for their vet back in uni and contributing to box scores ASAP.  In part because it would be cool to see Kent make Dodger history while proving the popular T-shirt slogan proclaiming that life indeed does begin at 40.  But mostly, having the crusty vet back in the fold betters the odds of making Frank McCourt's strong 2008 objective become a reality.   And the longer he's out of commission, the easier it could become for him to pack on a few pounds like his new bud Andruw Jones.

Plus, they need his speed and pesky base running to enhance Joe Torre's new game plan.

Kidding.

GRAPEFRUIT LEAGUE INTERLEAGUE PLAY!  That's what we all live for around these parts.  Dodgers vs. Saux.  Joe Torre and Terry Francona, together again for the first time.   Catch the action on ESPN (10pm PST)

If you've ponied up for one of them ESPN Insider accounts, you'll be able to see that Scouts Inc. Keith Law has named Chad Billingsley among the top-10 candidates for a bust out '08.  If you don't have the account, Bills is still in there.

A congressman, Democratic no less, requests that the FBI stop trying to figure out if The Rocket was honest about his means of fuel.

Jackie Robinson continues to rack honors.

40 yo clean up hitter splains a whole lot.

K T USN (almost retired)

Kent better not be the cleanup hitter this year or any other year to come. Right now I would bat him 7th going off last years performance maybe 6th.
