No money, no problems
According to Diddy, rapper-turned-reverend Mase, and the late Notorious B.I.G., the mo' money one accumulated, the mo' problems they encountered. But replace that "m" with the next letter in the alphabet and you're looking at Derek Lowe's mentality heading into this contract year season with the Blue. The sinker ball specialist has admitted to letting such matters affect his hurling (most recently during his final year in Beantown), but these days, he's content to let the chips fall as fate dictates. So far, so good. His approach led to a pair of scoreless innings during the Dodgers' 6-5 loss to the Mets (reliever Mike Koplove wasn't as fortunate). An athlete working without cash on his mind? What's next? Nomar Garciaparra contributing to the box score while playing as a shortstop?
If every once in a while, you feel like the high demands you're putting on the Blue may be too stringent, fear not. Steve Garvey is just as much of a stickler. And given that the Dodgers are throwing honors his way, his opinion likely counts for something.
As the Bonds turns...
