Anything but the right stuff

The "Wright" stuff, however, would be another story, at least if you're viewing tonight's 8-4 loss to the Mets with a New York state of mind.  The Mets hot corner cornerstone did his damage and then some, going long twice and tallying ribbies equal to the Blue's entire kit and caboodle.  Those homers, both against Dodger starter Brad Penny, helped extend the big righty's rotten luck inside the confines of Shea Stadium, a 1-10 clip that doesn't appear like it'll trend upward anytime soon.  Heck, dude's fortunes are so bad, he even got tagged with an unearned run via catcher's interference, an occurrence that happens just slightly less often than a Jeff Kent smile or two Dodger homers in the same frame (which actually did take place, albeit in wasted fashion from Kent and Blake DeWitt).  With two outs and nobody one (a scenario that hasn't been kind to Penny of late), Claudio Vargas connected on what he thought was a weak ground out to end the inning.  Turns out, his bat got a piece of Russell Martin's mitt, which put Vargas on first and opened the floodgates for a quartet of Metropolitan runs.  Throw in the pair New York scored in the third and seventh innings and your Blue box score is pretty much toast.

Welcome back, Joe!

Well they lost again and they look totally disfuntional, I mean someone hits a HR and they pan the dugout and nobody is excited. I don't care who the coach or GM something has to change or this organization is going to turn into the Cubs.

The MLB Extra Innings TV feed was from NY this telecast. They started out the intro with something like:
Torre has come back east with the light hitting Dodgers.
That's pretty bad if they are leading with it at the start of the broadcast.
Now the whole league knows, lol. No secrets around here.

Penny needs to man up on this one. Even the NY announcers could tell his mechanics are off. Has Honeycutt given up on him?

I just crack up every time Sweeney pinch hits. I can't remember a more automatic out in many a year.
Ironic that he now has more pinch hit appearances than anyone else in the NL. Can Torre be that stupid? A guy hitting .098 getting more at bats than any other PH?

Wouldn't that be a good thing right now?

Dodgers were hitting like this last year. No pop at all in their bats. Then they fired Murray and brought in Mueller. Things turned around quickly, notably for youngsters Loney, Ethier & Kemp. What was Mueller doing that Easler can pick up on?

The only silver lining for me this week is that there have been 3 games blacked out including tonight.

Misery is much easier to take when you can't see it.

on the positive side, the starting pitching is fairly decent at present, with the obvious exception of so-called "ace".........big brad needs to be "introduced" to the bullpen and work as long reliever for a while (maybe from now until sept. 30?).........and sweeney continues to amaze!..........what a pure hitter (LOL!)........but sweeney/penny/jones et. al. have distinct advantage of playing for mgr who seemingly left his brain in big apple

I wonder if Penny knows he is supposed to back up on throws from the outfield? I think he was trying to convince Joe last night that he wasn't. Somebody needs to do an "Attitude check" on him. It isn't the rest of the team that is pitching, ITS HIM!!! I think his rythm is way off and he really takes a long time between pitches. What is ya'alls take on him?

Yah Andy, todays cubs are doing well, but what I was referring too the last 50-100yrs

Go Blue

Life would be easier if we had a goat on the field or Bartman... then we have something outside the team to blame...

Injuries and underperforming kids are killing us. At least we have sweeney, an experienced veteren, to bail us out.
