This is good news... now no more waiting. Decision time is now... make some adjustment / trades (buy) now or start selling the old guys, build for the future and "let the kids play".
No more excuses of when Raffy comes back... it is apparent he will not come back this year.. and even if he does, it won't be a full strength.
Here's a news flash. Broxton is never successful under pressure. He has now caused Kershaw not to be the pitcher of record. I have no faith in Broxton.
Lex,
The Astros might want Kent back... he resides in Houston and played well there and hit a HR tonight to beat the Astros... how about a Berkman for Kent trade?...... if Ned could pull that off, I promise to stop the Fire Ned campaign.... I doubt I'll have to stop though... I doubt even a great GM could pull that one off... maybe if the roles were reversed, Ned would give up Berkman for Kent?!
WBB,
No, it's Brox fault. Even if Torre pulled Kuo too early, that just says Kuo would of got him... it still doesn't say Brox can get him. Brox needs to be able to get those outs whenever called upon... if he doesn't, his fault. He can't say, "Joe, I needed to face the next batter."??!!.. I would definitely get the next batter??!!
wow, raffy beginning to make "no-more" look like some kind of "iron-man"..........all those bashers of pierre soon to eat their words, as team now has absolutely no viable option for leadoff......kemp is likely best choice as he can steal a base, but strikes out entirely too much........and repko is a complete waste
Furcal done. The only one of the group we will get back is andruw jones who will play exactly the same way and then will be placed back on the "artificial" dl - the place for big contract vets who aren't producing and are clogging the works for a better replacement player. Torre killed us tonite. He would have thrown Faulkenberg every single night till that happened. Did the same thing in NY. That's his m.o. Burned the pen to the ground last night.
TJ2 great nickname for Ned. Flanders is perfect, now all he has to do in interviews is say iddly ohddley.
Can somebody explain to me why Torre keeps using Sweeny as a PH? Does he just want the inning over with? Anybody batting 0.095 needs to be dumped regardless of who they are or how long a veteran they are. Maybe we can trade him for "Kobayashi" like the Philies pulled off this spring training.
I feel bad for The Claw, getting yanked early again and then having your relief blow it up for you really sucks. At least we got a W... too bad The Claw wont taste victory anytime soon.
we need to leave FAJ a little longer in Vegas for a "little more seasoning"...Thi way he gets use to hitting and maybe something will stay with him when he gets removed from the DL
AJ is actually looking a little smoother in LV than before he went on the DL. MAYBE it was a legit injury. And I'm more than willing to live with Nomar at SS instead of Hu or Berroa. Maza and LaRoche can be the back up infielders. I'll be watching them play what is hopefully their final rehab game on Thursday. Nomar at SS and Either, Jones, Kemp in the outfield could finally gel the team for second half leading into the playoffs.
WBB,
Steiner is horrible. I've said it last year... the guy screams into the mike on a pop up to the outfield EVERY TIME!... "IT"S A DEEP FLY BALL, GOES BACK, BAck.. Ethier makes the catch." He's like the annoying fanactic who sits next to you at the ballgame and talks to himself. Who are the radio guys when Steiner doing TV? It's not Vin or Steve Lyons... I think those fill-ins are much better announcers and more enjoyable to listen to.
Andrew (right) and Brian Kamenetzky are hosts of the LA Times Lakers Blog, and contributing writers to ESPN The Magazine and ESPN.com. Additionally, they co-authored Fishing on the Edge, the autobiography of Mike Iaconelli, the bad boy of bass fishing and 2003 Bassmaster Classic champion. They grew up in St. Louis as Cardinals fans, but it doesn't impair their ability to Think Blue. After all, the Cards and Dodgers aren't even in the same division.

Rob,
Not sure that anyone would want any of our "old" guys.
LOL

so does this mean nomar gets to play ss? If he's hitting like he was before he got hurt... not so bad.
I like the idea of Kemp leading off. REPKO leading off just creates a top heavy line-up... sort of the basball equivilent of Dolly Parton.

I'm afraid Flanders will make a bad deal for a shortstop and we can kiss Andre Ethier good-bye in the process.

This is not Broxton's fault. It's Torre's fault for pulling both Kershaw and Kuo too early.

Can Swn actually get to .000??
Posted by: Benzojones | July 01, 2008 at 08:31 PM
I still hate Jeff Kent...

I don't trust Broxton one bit either. Amazing the boys actually pulled this one out.

Do the Dodger execs even listen to Steiner? Do they have any clue as to how bad he really is?

Jones went 3-3 last night with a Stolen Base, and an Infield hit!?!
The earth did not shake... but I live a good 15 miles from Cashman Field.
Is it possible that Jones and REPKO did one of those Freaky Friday body switch things when they passed each other on Monday?
Posted by: Benzojones | July 02, 2008 at 07:37 AM
Steiner turns more home runs into fly ball outs in a week than Jim Edmonds and Gary Matthews have done in their entire careers.

benzo....I believe Sweeney will be the first in Baseball history to finish the season with an average UNDER .000

Stiener was better when he had a stache.

I'd rather see Drysdale in the booth than Steiner (yes, I do know Drysdale is dead).
