My Kuroda

Looking to be more than a one-hit wonder (fine little ditty that it may be), Hiroki Kuroda made a serious return from the DL, offering up seven shutout innings to create a 4-0 win over the Astros.  Save one fifth inning, two on/two out pickle neatly disposed with a frame-ending grounder, Kuroda met with little trouble in his quest to regain form.  He was also aided nicely by Jeff Kent (on a 6-11 tear since entering Texas), a solo buh-last from Andre  Ethier (upper deck stuff) and a sweet suicide squeeze by Luisa Maza.  Corey Wade got tagged by Carlos Lee for a late inning one-run jack, but that aside, little to nothing bugged out the box score.  And all of a sudden, the Dodgers are on a two-game winning streak.

Also, for those who didn't know, Clayton Kershaw was sent back to the minors upon Kuroda's arrival.

wow, the "claw" got screwed, and he doesn't sound any too pleased w/demotion and is not buying senile old coot's (torre) "spin" (and rightfully so!).............guess sweeney is far too "valuable" to send packing?

Steve,

Unfortunately, the truth about Furcal has finally come out.

Hollywood Mark

Furcal should have had surgery back in early May and he would be returning by end of July. He did the same thing last year by only telling only Mariano Duncan the extent of his ankle injury. Stan Conte must go.The Dodgers should have gotten a major league shortstop May 6th when he went down. That's what normal orgs do. Not on the cheap like us. Now Colleti has problem because we are "contenders" in the west. What a pickle. We have more pitching than 2 teams combined. 9 legitimate starters. TRADE SOMEONE. GET A SHORTSTOP: But here's the deal. Nomar goes to short - reinjures himself. You anti-Pierre people will miss the Great one severely. Andruw Jones, his 18 million dollar (2x his salary) replacement is coming back in a matter of days. He will be given 2-3 weeks by management or until Pierre returns before he is re-DLed.

Claw didn't get screwed... but with the REDICULOUS limits the org has on him, he shouldn't be in the bigs.

Bring him up when we don't need to count innings and tosses.

The claw is gone for now they should have sent Trancoso instead of the claw. Oh well.............decisions from Colletti once again baffle me.
I'm hoping the blue keep up the good work they have been doing..I hope.

Glad we won last night, scary to think as bad as we are, we are 1.5 games out of first place. Our division must really be that bad.

I think at this point we cannot resign Furcal, it is too risky bringing in a guy who is coming off major back problems. I want him to return and be healthy, but i just dont see him there long term anymore. I wish him the best of luck in free agency, we really need a SS for the future. Whats the over/under on Nomar getting hurt within a week of returning? Hu is probably not going to ever get the bat going. Any suggestions on who we can bring in?

As for the claw yeah he got screwed. How is a pitcher ever going to get a win if he is only allowed 4 innings to pitch a game and never get out of adversity? They put too many restrictions on this kid and it is going to stunt his development. Let him pitch. Obviously the kid is ticked off and i hope he can get back up soon. Sweeny is the one that needs to be dumped, i am shocked they are sticking with a guy who is hitting 0.095 who cant field and cant run the bases. He is bringing nothing to the table. At least the kids can run bases or be defensive subs. Sorry Sweeny, you were a good PH at one time in your career, but your time has come, hang em up.
