Saito leaves the game

Because they needed some bad news...

With two outs and two strikes on the hitter he was facing, Takashi Saito had to leave Saturday night's game due to tightness in his throwing elbow.  No word yet as to the exact nature of the injury.  He'll be re-evaluated tomorrow.  Needless to say (but I'll say it anyway) this is not a good thing.

As you were.

UPDATE:  Saito left with tightness in his throwing elbow, which he felt throwing to the third batter he saw in the ninth.  Over the next three pitches, it only got worse, so he wisely stopped throwing.  Saito will get an MRI on Monday.

this is ugly...............why did I turn my tv on? Because I'm blind and I believe in these punks!

This team is enough to make you puke. I give up--I wonder if Joe Torre is about to do the same?

Harold from Thailand

wow!..........the HUGE stat of sat nite: FAJ 0-for-5, w/5 K's!!!!!........geesh, any teenager from the dodgers lowest farm club could do this "good"?????
with another loss tomorrow, dod's enter all-star break w/robust 50 loses!!! (how fitting for 50th anniv. season)...........still have confidence in this crew though, & if they really apply themselves, i remain fully confident in their ability to drop 100 this yr

Look I blame colittie,MCcourt needs to fire Ned.The vets are either to old (late 30s) or the kids to young and raw. Not a good combination.Ned has to go he is the GM.Come on Frank grow a pair and do the right thing and fire Ned Flanders's.

We need TRiffee

blame ned if it makes you feel better. considering all the changes that are likely, and necessary to happen at the end of the season and decisions that will need to be made, whomever is the dodgers gm is going to have a mess on their hands.

likely goners due to expiring contracts and old age are 2B jeff kent. SS/3B nomar garciaparra, SS rafael furcal, unless his back can heal by september and he can prove he can stil play, SP derek lowe, RP takashi saito, injury or not. that's a lot of spots to fill. the dodgers still don't have a viable everyday 3B, still don't have a middle of the order bat, will be in need of more arms. likely goners after next year due to expiring contracts are also SP brad penny, SP jason schmidt, and OF andrew jones. if aj continues to strike out 5X a game they'd be better off cutting him outright in october and eating his eighteen million dollar contract for next year. that's a lot of zeroes.

that leaves their overall lineup heading into the future; C martin, 1B loney, 2B ???, SS ???, 3B dewitt/laroche, OF pierre, OF ethier, OF kemp. SP billingsley, SP kuroda and SP kershaw. that looks like a AAA team to me if ever i saw one. come to think of it, i wouldn't want ned's job either. would you???

I was writing in the previous thread. It seems everyone was completely off balance the whole night. Only looking for fastballs. You would think after a few innings someone would realize that Nolasco was throwing these lollypop curves right down the middle. Where is the hittting coach? Of course AJ was the worst. His first 4 AB he got 19 straight curves or sliders. He was off balance on every one. Nolasco didn't even attempt to hit the corners or waste a pitch with 2 strikes. He just kept throwing it down the middle and AJ was 'fooled' on every one. Talk about 'not getting it' . Even my wife said 'Doesn't he know they are going to throw a slow ball?
David

When Andruw Jones is batting, the pitches aren't the only thing that is slow.
