Quick Saturday Links

Jeff_kent_vs_milwaukee Great win for the Dodgers Friday night, which we won't spoil with an overly excessive news post.  Better to let it sink in via brevity, right?  The 5-3 victory over Milwaukee didn't get off to a very good start, as Chad Billingsley was extremely erratic early.   He surrendered three runs and four hits, including a two-run bomb from Gabe Kapler (welcome back!) before the start of the third, leaving L.A. down 3-1.  But Billingsley would settle down and the Dodger bats would start rolling, led by three hits each from Casey Blake, whose two run homer in the fourth tied things up, and Jeff Kent, who is hitting about seven billion over the last 10 days. Good relief work from Joe Beimel and Jonathan Broxton nailed it down.  With the win, LA moves to four games over .500 and remained tied with the Diamondbacks atop the NL West.

Matt Kemp has been on fire of late, earning some praise from Joe Torre (there's video footage of said praise in the player on the side of the page, as well).  Juan Pierre, meanwhile, starter in only two of the last nine games, is more a situational player these days.

Eric Gagne isn't sure how Dodger fans will receive him post-Mitchell Report should he pitch in this series.

TONIGHT'S GAME:  It's Derek Lowe vs. Dave Bush tonight at the Ravine.  7:10 start.

When a guy starts talking about "hitting philosophy" then you know he's on the right track.

Good job Kemp!

Benzo Jones

what's the matchup?

Rob

Benzo,
The match up is Benzo vs Package

Package,
Why you trying to get Benzo fired already? I know he hasn't pulled the trigger in firing Colletti and Conte but he isn't officially the GM yet.

SaMo,
Last thread, I would guess Torre was using someone else to save arms... I DON'T AGREE w/ THIS b/c yesterday's game was a must win and with the exception of Kuo and today's starter, everyone should of been fair game.

TheSwede

Kemp, CF
Ethier, RF
Kent, 2B

I am not trying to get Benzo fired! I think he will make an outstanding GM. I am impatient and discusted with Ned and I am ready to make changes, turn on a dime and get the Dodgers rolling. I know Benzo will surely fire all the vets starting with Kent and including Nomar, Sweeney, and AJ. But what else?? We will see how Vegas effects one.

Package

P.S. Benzo, if I can help you, please let me know

Benzo Jones

Package, I fully intend to hire you so I can be a figurehead and flirt with Kim Ng.
