There's a pattern starting to form
Mind you, I'm not limiting y'all to just one pattern. You can pick from a list of items, if that makes it easier. Such trends include:
1) Losses. In this case, 5-4 against Washington.
2) Sweeps. The Blue are flirting with their second straight series at the wrong end of a brooming.
3) Failure to come through with RISP: Don't let the trio of long balls hurt you, as they were all solo. With dudes actually on the basepaths ready to keep going, the evening's clip was a delightful 1-11.
4) Greg Maddux winless: Granted, he's only had two shots, and tonight's quartet of runs contributed to the box score were only twice earned, but his late season arrival has nonetheless remained a far cry from the 2006 version.
5) Chan Ho Park growing considerably less reliable: With a homer allowed tonight, what was once a fairy tale season hasn't turned "Brothers Grimm" quite yet, but it's certainly no longer the Cinderella Fest we had been enjoying.
6) Arizona keeping the Dodgers alive in this crummy division: Good lord, nobody seems interested in representing the NL West in the playoffs.
Anything I'm leaving out?

It's bad enough that the Bums are losing, but to be held captive by Steiner/Lyons or Monday/Reuss while the Bums are losing is unbearable. Where's that gallon of anti-freeze?

AK, perhaps you can add to the list: 7) Growing evidence that the Dodgers aren't going to win anything this year (not even the very weak NL West). I'm convinced that it really is true that the Dodgers have a questionable mix of players--aging veterans PLUS "not yet in their prime" players. While last year this dubious mix may have caused clubhouse (chemistry) problems, this year it seems to be responsible for on-the-field (production) issues.

This very telling.
I kept track of one statistic during the game for both teams, advancing the runner with one out or less. Hits, walks, or errors did not count.
The Dodgers were 1 for 9 and never moved a man on second base with no outs.
The Nats were 6 for 8 and with men on second and no outs they were 2 for 2.
This is Dodger baseball and was clearly obvious the Nats were the better team and they played like it.
I know they will never do it but when the roster expands, sit Kent, Nomar, and Blake. Start looking for some “potential”, lol…
How can you worry about the appearance of "giving up" when you haven't gotten started?
Right now the Dodgers are a disaster.

This season has been sooooo disapointing. deja vus all over again. I CAN'T BELIEVE THESE BUMS CAN"T BEAT THE NATS!!!! What is going on? Why?Next year will be more like this year. I hate being a dodger fan!!! I can't wait for the season to be over so and I can cheer the cubbies on!

I'll take all of the above. Wait til next year. As Joe Garagiola said in the 60's (I think) the Dodger's is the team whose pitchers have to throw a shutout just to get a tie. Also Drysdale was told that Koufax had thrown a no-hitter against Philly, his reply was "Did he win?" It's sorry when the current Dodger pitchers have to apologize for giving up a couple of runs.

Maybe they need to get rid of the Parking Shuttles. All of this started around the same time of the parking Shuttles. Does anyone know what the post-parking shuttle record is?
Damn Parking Shuttles.

I agree with everthing above.
I used to get excited to come home to watch the game now I dread watching yet another loss. Dodgers have not got it done. Wish I had grown up as a Angles Fan, they are easy to watch. Unfortunatly Birthdays were going up to watch 60's Blue at Dodger Stadium (at least they haven't renamed it some corporate logo sellout yet). Fred

well, dodgers have had a fairly nice 50-yr run here in LA.....i say it's time we send them packing back to Brooklyn..........afterall, we still have the "halos" and we neva seemed to miss rams (or raiders) all that much?.......alas!!!........it was a nice lil' experiment, but now -- good riddance!!!!

TJ Simmers wants a Lima Time statue... I'm all for that... last thing i can recall in the last 20 years...

Why do we need Russell Martin again? De-juiced LoDuca-lite "super-star" has thrown out 17% of the runners. 12 guys all year? He has 11 homeruns and has played almost every game. He will not/can not/refuse to move a runner over to third. He has been put in every spot in the lineup to no avail. Look closely at the Dodger catchers - LoDuca steroids. Bennet steroids. Martin? Recommended by Gagne. You do the math. Where have you gone DionerNavarro? A nation turns its lonely eyes to you...ooo...oooo....oooo

Ok, so Matt Kemp goes through a rough stretch where for 5 out of 6 games he struggles at the plate, just like all players do. So Shaiken asks Torre if HE PLANS TO REPLACE KEMP WITH JUAN PIERRE?????????
There were two reasons that the Dodgers were playing better since the All Star break: Manny Ramirez and Matt Kemp. Kemp has been the most consistent of all the Dodgers that have been here all year. This is his first slump since APRIL. Get a freaking grip.
Posted by: twerp1 | August 28, 2008 at 08:45 AM
Whats wrong with you people? They're in a slump but don't count them out yet, they want to win I've noticed Martin, Kemp, Ethier are finally starting to show some emotion after leaving men on base
still 6 games left against the Dbacks then they finish against Col, SD, SF, and Pitt pretty weak teams. They can win the division but they'll get swept by either Phil or NYM
and don't blame the shuttles 16-16 since 7/25
But 14-6 at home! Maybe they should have them for road games
Posted by: CA | August 28, 2008 at 09:13 AM
They can't rid the shuttles... what would they have to justify the ticket price increase for 2009?
I love the season ticket packet I received??!!! "Be able to purchase 2009 tickets at 2008 prices"!!!
Doesn't that basically IMPLY that our ticket prices for 2009 will be INCREASED AGAIN??!!! ... the money is needed to pay Manny's, Blakes, and Maddux's salary?? .. no that's not it, they came free.... I would of just appreciated if they came out and said, PRICES WILL INCREASE NEXT YEAR BUT LOCK IN NOW AND SAVE SOME MONEY!
The Dodgers are like gas prices.... deceptive created environment.
BK,AK,
I noticed I got part of my post axed?? I must of been really going off... sorry I lost it for a minute... or a little longer.... How about an Live Blog to try and break this losing streak? Blogs only on Home Games??... if so, maybe that's why our Live Blog record is so good... need to see if it will hold on the Road... true test of a blog.

I think it is wrong and faulty to use the time-honored nickname of "Bums" for this POS "team." When fans referred to the Brooklyn Dodgers as Dem Bums, it was reallly an endearing term. They weren't very good, and they often looked like a precursor to the 1962 Mets, but they had spirit. This "team" is an embarrassment to the game of baseball, not to mention the Dodger uniform. These guys just don't seem to care to play baseball the right way. There is just ... nothing there. Lots of people on here are talking about a "curse," but there is no curse. There used to be the "Dodger Way" to play baseball. Now there is the "Dodger Not the Way." Every single one of these guys ought to be embarrassed to even consider themselves as major leaguers. This year, it seems as if Fatso Jones set the tone early. Showing up as a fat tub of goo told everybody, "I don't give a (four-letter expletive for excrement)." It seems as if the rest of the team joined him in attitude.

Hey will you look at who leads this crappy team in home runs? Why it's ANDRE ETHIER!!!!!!!!
Imagine what his numbers (and the team's) would look like if he had been in the lineup every day since April. 25 Homers and 85 RBIs isn't too far off a guess.
His haircut, however, would need considerable seasoning in the minors.

WE all said Torre should not enforce a quality haircut... look at what ol' supercuts has done to our bats... Our hitting left with ManRam's locks.

Rob,
I've been pushing for the Live Blog for both Home and Away but the boys who run this blog keep balking....I say we need a Live Blog Marathon to get back into the race and finally pull away....We should try it against the reptiles

Honestly, there is absolutely ZERO hope for this team. They have completely given up and quit... and the same pattern is emerging as last year. Dodgers quit, Dbacks struggle, Rockies are on fire, and they'll likely win the division. I predict the Dodgers will win five more games the remainder of the season, which is better than last year. The entire organization is terrible, from management down to the players, and it doesn't look like it'll change anytime soon.
