I think I'll be coming down with something on Wednesday afternoon {{cough}}
Hey guys, no word on the 25 man playoff roster yet? I assume we'll hear Monday. I hope we see Delwyn Young on that roster. The Dodgers will need a PH who can actually, you know, hit, and he can play the outfield and even the infield in a pinch. The idea that Ozuna or Sweeney steal a spot from him makes me kinda irked. Anyway, I'm excited to see them in Chi-town this week, nervous but excited.

Benzo:
Base pads? Maybe you were referring to the bottoms of the little cubbies’ paws?
:-)
Honestly, I have no idea how this series is going to go. The Dodgers played the Cubs tight back in May, losing 3-1, 3-1, and 2-1. Was that great Cub pitching or crappy Dodger hitting? Who can say.
What you can say is that the October Dodgers are quite different from the May Dodgers. The May Dodgers featured Pierre (2-12) in left, Luis Maza (2-11) at 2B for two games and short for the other, Chin Lung Hu (0-7) at short for two games, and Sweeney (0-4) and Ardoin (0-3) giving Loney and Martin breathers. The October Dodgers will feature Ramirez instead of Pierre, Furcal instead of Hu, DeWitt instead of Maza, and the full complement of Russell Martin.
In that May series, Andre Ethier went 5-12, but neither scored nor drove in a run because nobody was on base in front of him or behind him. Martin was 4-11, and even Kent was 3-4 in the one game he played. There was even a Terry Tiffee sighting!!!!!!
Lowe, Billingsley, and Kuroda all pitched well, so you have to believe maybe the wind was blowing in that weekend. But who knows.
What we do know for sure is that Furcal at the top of the order gives you speed without giving up power in left or center field, that Ramirez gives you a bat in the middle of the order to be feared, that DeWitt gives you range up the middle at second base, and that the bench is infinitely stronger with guys like Nomar, Kent, Pierre and Berroa no longer in the starting lineup. (I almost wrote startling lineup, which is what we endured most of May).

Torre would never have gotten this far had he stayed with the Yankees.
