Great Pics of the hazing! Go Dodgers! Finny story....When I was 9 (back in 90'/91'), my family and I happened to run into Steve Garvey in the club level. My Dad was soooo excited to meet him and I turned to Steve and said "are you famous or something?" My parents were horrified, but Steve was a good sport about it.
I think the weather on the east coast (it's really poor right now... lots of rainouts possible this weekend) could very well benefit us, in that a lot of rotations are going to get mixed up.
I was prepared to cut Kent some slack, but I looked at his career numbers. He was a rookie in 1992. There may have been some ritualistic junk in Toronto, but he was still low man on the totem pole, and instead of going along with the team, taking his knocks, and BEING ACCEPTED by his peers, he had a hissy fit. He was a bad citizen in NY and has never stopped being one.
Contrast this behavior with Andre Ethier's last year. Although he hit .308 as a rookie in 126 games in 2006, the Dodgers (I'm guessing Kent was among them) lumped h im in with Kent and Loney and Billz and Broxton in the hazing ritual last year. Ethier probably had every right to tell them to @%$@# off, that he had been through rookie hazing once before, but he didn't make a big deal out of it.
Frankly, given the choice between being lumped in with the kids or lumped in with Luis Gonzalez, Jeff Kent, and Olmedo Saenz, I think I'd cast my lot with the kids. But it's more evidence of what a sourpuss Kent has been his entire career. I'll remind everyone yet again of the teams that have succeeded by dumping Jeff Kent: The Blue Jays in 1992--they won a World Series. The Indians in 1996--they went to the fall classic the following year. The Astros also went to the World Series in 2005, the year after Kent left.
If the Dodgers keep him out of the lineup, they just might have a chance to win this damn thing.
If you can't appreciate guys bonding around misogyny and racism then you have no sense of humor at all.
What's funnier than dressing up a guy to look like a chick or a pimp? And kudos to all those female reporters doing victory interviews last night. You've come a long way, baby.
Andrew (right) and Brian Kamenetzky are hosts of the LA Times Lakers Blog, and contributing writers to ESPN The Magazine and ESPN.com. Additionally, they co-authored Fishing on the Edge, the autobiography of Mike Iaconelli, the bad boy of bass fishing and 2003 Bassmaster Classic champion. They grew up in St. Louis as Cardinals fans, but it doesn't impair their ability to Think Blue. After all, the Cards and Dodgers aren't even in the same division.

Benzo, nice pickup.

SaMo.... and I think if you go back a month I was echoing that sentiment.
BUT - if you can temper Kent's personality.... the guy can hit...
