BK and I consider ourselves hardworking, witty and reasonably informed bloggers
Hopefully, the Blue Notes readership feels the same way. One thing we don't do particularly well, however? Recognize that baseball features a long offseason, often with very little beyond rumors to write about, so it's wise to stretch out any original material as long as possible.
But unlike your resident, moronic hosts, who dusted through a crowd fave back in October (and what's with only offering the bare minimum of two categories?), the great Mike Scioscia's Tragic Illness blog was genius enough to continue slow-rolling report cards through mid-November. The semi-starting pitchers (Maddux to Park to Loaiza) recently received their marks and today saw the relief staff either decorate individual fridges or forge parental signatures. As usual, they offer some fine insight over at MTSI.
Make sure to read the latter post all the way through to Ramon Troncoso. I chuckled.

Well the 1st free agent is off the block…maybe things will start to get rolling

KT,
As it's often been said, the 2008-2009 free agency period will be dictated from start to finish by what happens with Jeremy Affeldt.

Ramon who?
And as long as you fill the blog with more 80s pop culture references, I don't care what you write about.

DBrim-
Wow. That comment makes me smile bigger than Webster at the end of a VSE.
(How's that?)

In Autumn 2008, a crack commando unit was sent to the NLCS by Ned & Frank for a title they didn't deserve. These men promptly escaped to a free-agency stockade and the Chavez Ravene underground. Today, still wanted by the Yankees & the Mets, they survive as Soldiers of Scott Boras' fortune, yet to be re-signed.
If you have a Pitching-staff Ace problem, if no one else can help you hit with RISP, and if you can find them, maybe you can sign... The CC, Raffy & Manny-Team.

Hey, there's nothing wrong with a few 70's culture references as well, even if AK and BK have to experience them second hand...
Maybe even bring back the term psychedelic, man.

Thanks for the links, BK and AK. Much appreciated; you guys are a daily visit for me for all the good info you dig up.

I was in my 20's in the 80's, and thusly I do not remember them.

DBB,
Are the commando's holding anyone for ransom beside the fans?
Benzo,
I was 21 in 1980 so I also know what you are talking about...I think...not sure...I certainly hope so

Benzo,
I was born in 1988, but anyone can appreciate a good reference. I was a child of the 80s, after all (ha).

Just the facts (as reported by Celizic) -- facts that would never be uttered by Plaschke in is ongoing attempt to simmer down any hopes of landing our first star player in 20 years. We already have decent pitching. We have no real hitters without Manny. The naysayers predict he will only do "half as good" as the numbers below, which would be twice as good as anyone else on the club.
"The facts are incontrovertible. Before Manny arrived in L.A., the Dodgers were fighting to play .500 baseball and stay in contention in the game’s worst division. After he arrived, L.A. started playing at a championship level that carried them to the playoffs.
His stats were absurd: 53 games, 53 RBIs, 17 home runs, 14 doubles, .489 on-base percentage, .396 batting average, .743 slugging percentage.
If ever one player carried a team to the playoffs, it was Ramirez and the Dodgers. Without him they were a mediocrity. With him, they were division champs.
I don’t care that he played just two months. I do care that he was the reason the Dodgers won. He’s the very definition of an MVP."
With CC, the Dodgers will be a mediocrity with a star pitcher, yet still without enough run production to win any games. Just ask Derek Lowe.

That's it. This site has officially gone Leather Tuscadero.
For those of you too young to remember the 70s, that is to say it has jumped the shark.

I certainly understand you guys stretching out the material in the off season. You can't talk about Manny signing or not signing but so much or defend a guy like Grady over and over. I have no complaints from the country's premier bloggers. The guys who's insightful, knowledgeable, accurate and informative information brought us purple/gold and blue, and live blogs along with facebook. All I can say is I'm stoked and I hope you guys don't jump ship for some place like Detroit, Cleveland or Pittsburgh just for a whole lot of money. Far out guys and peace.
