I believe his one-year deal has incentive clauses for leaping tall buildings in a single bound and for refining next season's flu vaccine.

I'm guessing that at least partly, Repko's chance to open the season with the Dodgers is dependent on the performance of Xavier Paul during the spring. The latter had a solid 2008 at LV, has speed, is a good outfielder, and like Repko has a very strong arm. It could also come down to a lefty-righty thing, since I believe Paul hits from the left side.
Assuming the Dodgers carry 12 pitchers, that means other than the 8 starters there will be 5 players on the bench. One of them will be Loretta, and another will be the backup catcher (whoever that might be). That leaves 3 more open positions. Of those, probably one will be a utility infielder, and the remaining two spots will be outfielders, among which the possibilities are JP (ugh!!, unless he's traded), Delwyn Young, Repko and Xavier Paul. The final decision may well come down to who has (or doesn't have) remaining options. And of course, there is always the possibility of a trade that could render moot everything I just wrote.
Repko is nothing more than a mediocre minor leaguer.....not even a quality reserve @ major league level......ought not to have ever let Cody Ross get away, in lieu of keeping Repko
Why? You mean to tell me Repko is the BEST backup outfielder in the Dodgers minor league system? How many chances does this kid need to let this club know he's mediocre at best?!
It's about time that this team sign someone significant THIS WEEK.
I'm glad to see the Dodgers re-signed Repko just in time for him to hightail it to Washington to take the oath of office as our nation's first black president.
Repko wants to be traded!!!.......second best news of this fine day (first best being Bush is FINALLY gone!!!).....
this IS truly a great day!!!!............good riddance to Repko!!!
(don't let the door hit you in the you-know-what on the way out)
it's sad REPKO wants a trade. Can't blame him though. He has a logjam of outfielders in front of him. I hope he gets a shot... If not the dodgers... Hopefully elsewhere. 11 years in the system and not given a chance sucks. I personally would love to see him kemp and ethier be the outfield. Youth... Defense... And speed. Let's see what spring training brings.
Let me say that first of all I think most of you don't recall all the plays he's made to make himself one of the premier underrated players, just cause as another commenter has put, he's on a roster that has more then it's share of good outfielders. In the times I have seen him on the field, he has made quite a number of amazing and outstanding catches and hit his fair share of home runs. If he has the chance to shine and is able to stay healthy, the Dodgers made the right decision in keeping him, if not then others will point yet another finger at the ONLY team that should represent the city of LA.
when repko was healthy a couple years back ... he was outstanding. 5 tool athlete. his injuries slowed down his advancement but if he can get back to where he was ... watch out.
Andrew (right) and Brian Kamenetzky are hosts of the LA Times Lakers Blog, and contributing writers to ESPN The Magazine and ESPN.com. Additionally, they co-authored Fishing on the Edge, the autobiography of Mike Iaconelli, the bad boy of bass fishing and 2003 Bassmaster Classic champion. They grew up in St. Louis as Cardinals fans, but it doesn't impair their ability to Think Blue. After all, the Cards and Dodgers aren't even in the same division.

Once BK and I explained to Ned Colletti just how important it was to the Blue Notes blogosphere to keep Repko around, everything went into motion.
You're welcome.

Another bang up job Jason! Vegas odds of Dodgers winning the 2009 NL pennant went from pre-Repko signing of 4 to 1 to post-Repko sigining of 5 to 1.

Repko: change we can believe in!!!!

I cant wait for Colletti to trade Kemp, so our starting outfield can be Either, Pierre, and Repko. Now thats good baseball!!!

AK,
Can you and BK go talk to Ned about quitting his job? In my opinion, that is more important than even resigning Repko.

obviously a few of you don't realize the importance of REPKO to some of us here nor the inside joke (where is Aryan, anyway?)
