Attention: Blue Notes is moving!

Hey folks. There are some things afoot regarding Blue Notes in which (we hope) you'll be interested.  The first is some excellent news for LAT.com baseball readers:

Moving_sign Jon Weisman's Dodger Thoughts is joining our ever growing blog family.  (It can now be found here!) Many/most of you who read Blue Notes also read DT, and know the outstanding work Jon does over there. He's an outstanding writer with a passion for the Blue, an appreciation of the team's history, and a fantastic core audience that knows and loves the game.

We (meaning Andy and I) are not disappearing, though.  Blue Notes- or at least the guys who once hosted it- will now become part of The Fabulous Forum, and we'll continue to write about baseball and the LAD.  To be perfectly honest, neither one of us knows exactly how this is going to shake out (Will there be a "Blue Notes" tab?  Can people click on "Kamenetzky, and Bam! there we are?  Will there be a secret handshake required?), but our hope is that those of you who enjoyed our work for Blue Notes will continue to read us on the Forum, and will at the same time take advantage of Dodger Thoughts as the LAT's newest resource for fans o' the Blue.

Andy and I look forward to working with Jon, and welcome him to the LAT.

I don't like it already too much other junk to wade through to get to Dodgers baseball

Its a little strange

was it something I said?

dominic

if this mean's you guys blog less then I'm against this change. Also does that mean the Lakers and Dodgers blog are going to be mixed into one?

DodgerBlueBalls

Damn, Gina!!!!!

gillbert

Oh Lame! I hope we still get to hear from you, plus, who will do live blogs? We know how necessary they are for the dodgers to win!!

I have to weigh in on the Don't Like It One Bit side. I am all for you dudes doing what's best for your careers, but I prefer to do my Dodger-Talking on Blue Notes. I hope that neither the "Fabulous Forum" nor the Times website and their system of links marginalizes what you fellas do.

P.S. Like the terms "Premium," "World Famous," and "All Natural," things with the label "Fabulous" usually aren't. Here's hoping your new forum is an exception to that rule.

First and foremost, thank you to everyone for the kind words and support. It means a lot, as we've worked very hard to make Blue Notes an informative, passionate and entertaining blog. Feeling appreciated is never a bad thing. So again, thank you.

I don't want to get too deep into the particulars of the decision. In a nutshell, the Times remains very supportive of us and our work, but would simply prefer we focus the majority of our energy on the Lakers. But like BK said, we can- and more importantly, will- still provide material for you. And it's not just smoke blowing when we say, Dodger Thoughts is an excellent addition to the Times family. We certainly linked to it and had Jon Weisman on our podcasts enough times to prove our sincerity. I think everyone can come out a winner with this move. Especially Dodger fans, who get even more coverage now.

We'll stay in touch. Hopefully, you guys do as well.

Kambrothers,

Good luck in your new endeavors! You have done a great job here. My $3,000 unclaimed property post was apparently now helpful in keeping this going. ha, ha

The Dodger Thoughts blog has some 290 postings on Manny, so it appears impractical as a means of communication to other Dodger fans and to let off some steam. Not sure what this means for my continued postings.

Best wishes to everyone and Go Dodgers! (Sign Manny!)

Carl Creasman

As many have said, I don't like it. I hope that we will continue to get your comments and not see this fade into oblivion.

I think I'll just stick with the other blog I participate..I really don't like dodger thoughts way too many postings: http://lakerdodgerfanatics.com/blog/

Hey folks. Thanks so much for the nice words. If anyone wants to read us (still), we'll be writing at the Forum soon enough. It's not an ideal platform, but life isn't ideal, is it?

We've truly enjoyed hosting Blue Notes over the past few seasons, and appreciate everything you guys have brought to the site.

Drop us an email at kambrothers@yahoo.com.

And in the meantime, I'd encourage everyone to check out Jon's site. He really is one of the best baseball writers out there.

what about our cool face book group? Is that still going or is that done too?

SteelMohawk

good luck guys. its going to be weird, and you guys were definitely fun to read.

BostonPeng

Thanks for all the great posts. Unfortunately I'm with some of the others in disliking TFF. I wish there were a way to subscribe to just the posts in the Dodgers category. I'll definitely be reading DT now that I'm aware of it. But I'll miss reading your posts.

Kam Bros,

I echo what has already been said about this great blog. This was the first blog I ever wrote in because was a very intimate compared to the DT site and others where trash talking doesn't get screened out. I felt that the group we had was argumentive, but knowledgable. I enjoyed the great banter becuse, bottom line, we were Dodger Fans and wanted what was best for the team. If any of you guys get a smaller blog going get me on it. Jackski99@hotmail.com. Go Dodgers!

Dodger Dude

OK, aside from the confusing transition. Or one minute Dodger blog goes to the Blue Notes (kind of like a dinner) to the Dodger blog goes to Dodger Thoughts (kind of like going to Walmart on black Friday), I am hoping for the best.

You guys always did much better work with the Lakers, and Dodgers were kind of like an afterthought, and you even admitted a Carnal Sin (or should I say Cardinal sin) that Blue was not your only love, your moderation and ideas for presentations were mostly excellent (although often your opinions were way out there and I could tell at heart were not totally blinded by emotion such as ours). I am totally suspect of any move the LA Times currently makes because almost all of them our bad. Aside from working more cheaply, I am bit suspect of any guy who thought that Depostra guy would be a good idea (although you guys thought AJ would be so that's kind of a wash), but am willing to give this guy a shot as he is a true Dodger fan.

Of course if Manny isn't signed, the whole thing goes out the window, and this is a perfect time to get off the blog. Sign Manny dang it!

SaMo

After a week of Dodger Thoughts, I have to say I'm underwhelmed. Or overwhelmed. So many comments, and so few cogent ones. And so much talk about god only knows what--UCSB basketball? Top Chef? PIB+?

I came here for Dodger talk, and liked what I found on Blue Notes. So far, Dodger Thoughts seems to be a place where people write in as fast as possible without stopping to think. I shudder to think what it will be like on game days.

Weisman seems ok as a writer, even if I disagree with his take on Manny. That's ok; I disagree with most people's take on Manny. But the best commenters I see on his site are the ones who moved over from this site.

So count me as disappointed with yet another change brought to you by the L.A. Times. Pretty soon, Sam Zell will have given me all the reason I need to stop reading entirely.

mrvica

I am having a real problem following the transition. I have yet to find any input from you guys on the "Dodger Thoughts" link. Am I missing something other than your usual good posts?

I agree. There are very few comments that make sense on DT. Too much chit chat and not enough good information. One indivual who has it down to a science runs that blog. Blue Notes was far supieror to DT. I wish the Kbros. would come back. Anybody else?

Also, I wrote to the Times feedback and got no response. I guess they don't care what people want in a newspaper or website.

I would like to have the brothers back myself. I marvel at the number of posts on DT... a better title might be "Bum Rush" given the Dodgers old nickname and the volume of posts.

There's a hilarious site, Dodger Blues, for the frustrated Dodger fan. Very funny stuff! I especially like the 20 year count "up" since the Dodgers did anything significant. However, the site has mega posters and use of profanity is expected. The guy who runs it must be a comedy writer. Brilliant and well deserved mocking of the Dodger organization!
